The Ewan Centre receives a grant to restore the historic Al-Zawiyah Ahmadiyah building

According to Dr. Khalil Al-Astal, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the Islamic University, the Ewan Cultural Heritage Centre at the Faculty of Engineering received a grant to restore the Ahmadiyah-owned corner building in Old Gaza from the Barakat Trust, which will cover the first phase of restoration and maintenance

Dr. Ahmed Al-Astal, Director of the Ewan Center, pointed out that the grant was awarded to her after more than 100 applications were made in the Islamic world. This project was approved, representing an intersection with the objectives that the funded institution tends to achieve

He noted M.M. Mahmoud Al-Balawi, Project Officer, said that the Al-Zawiya Al-Ahmadiyya Building suffers from serious damages such as moisture and cracks in the walls and ceiling, adding a poor cement layer, and landing on the floors. There is also a lack of documentation of the place’s interactive spirit.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Astal pointed out that the project will include lift and documentation, preparing schemes, as well as restoring internal and external facades and ceilings, as well as tracking oral history through direct interviews with older people from Rowad Al-Zawiya

The building of the corners is an extension of the devotional architecture, and its building expresses a unique model of Islamic architectural art, where the woolly corners spread in Palestine during the monarchy period until they numbered about (92) Historical angle, the old Gaza share of which was (8) corners that all but the Ahmadiyah corner created by the Gaza Wali (Tantai al-Jukandar) in 736 AH and the reason why it was named as a sheik of mysticism “Sheikh Ahmed al-Badawi”, who died in 675 AH
