The Faculty of Engineering of the Islamic University was founded at the beginning of the academic year 1992/1993. The foundation of the faculty addressed the increasing needs in that period and responded to the needs of the Palestinian society in the stage of re-broadcasting and distinguished engineering competencies.
Faculty majors:
The beginning was in the civil and architectural departments, but the faculty soon developed and became popular. In 1994/1995, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering was inaugurated, which was later separated to become a separate department for each of them. In 2001/2002, the Department of Industrial Engineering was inaugurated. At the beginning of 2008/2009, the Department of Environmental Engineering was inaugurated, then the Department of Mechanical Engineering was opened. Thus, the College of Engineering includes seven departments:
• Civil Engineering Department.
• Architectural Engineering Department.
• Electrical Engineering Department.
• Computer Engineering Department .
• Industrial Engineering Department .
• Environmental Engineering Department.
• Mechanical Engineering Department
The faculty seeks throug its postgraduate programs to advance development in its various fields. It also aims at training and qualifying highly qualified staff in various scientific fields, supporting scientific research, and contributing to community service through problem-solving, scientific consultations, holding seminars, conferences, and other fields.
The College of Engineering is aware of the importance of graduate studies in serving scientific research and solving the technical problems of society in this field. Master’s programs have been inaugurated in the Civil Engineering department, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Architecture. It is noted that these plans are in line with modern global trends in engineering education that tends to specialize in various engineering fields.
The programs of the Civil Engineering Department include the disciplines of engineering project management, infrastructure, facility rehabilitation, and water resource geometry, while the programs of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department include control systems and and MSc Computer.
These programs aim to provide an opportunity for Palestinian engineers to continue their higher studies at a very low cost, as well as encourage scientific research and train Palestinian cadres in the field of applied research. Moreover, these programs contribute to solving the engineering problems facing the industrial and construction sectors in Palestine and cooperate in the fields of scientific research with local and foreign universities and research centers.
