The Ewan Center for Cultural Heritage at the Faculty of Engineering at the Islamic University organized an oily drawing workshop in activities and events to raise community awareness of the importance of the architectural heritage in the Gaza Strip, with funding from the Barakat Trust Foundation in Britain, with the participation of a number of young artists to paint the features of our architectural heritage in the Old City of Gaza
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Al-Astal, Director of the Center, stressed the need to implement such activities, which are aimed at achieving one of the main objectives of the work at the Ewan Center, which is to raise community awareness of the importance of architectural heritage and the need to preserve it for future generations. And Dr. Astal noted that this workshop comes to highlight the artistic aesthetics and ancient history of archaeological buildings that still exist in the Old City with the feast of creative young artists
For its part, the engineer Neshwa Ramlawi, coordinator of the workshop, explained that the workshop was carried out within the Old City, specifically in the neighborhood of Ras al-Tha ‘a, which is one of the distinctive neighborhoods of its streets and its ancient monuments that embodies the features of the Old City in previous times “The participants were distributed to draw different angles from within the alleyways and archaeological houses in the neighborhood”, The architect of Ramlawi noted that an art exhibition will be organized to showcase the workshop’s output. These are paintings that reflect the style and talent of artists in transmitting the image of the architectural heritage with artistic and distinctive output
